Many people suffer eyestrain. The severity of the eyestrain is usually linked to the cause. Here are some of the possible causes:

1. Excessive Near Work

Our eyes are not meant to focus up close for prolonged periods. We spend a lot of time looking at screens, which results in excessive accommodation (focussing action by the eye muscles), resulting in eyestrain.

2. Uncorrected Vision Conditions

Uncorrected hyperopia (far-sightedness), astigmatism (oval-shaped cornea), or myopia (near-sightedness) often results in eyestrain because the eye muscles are overworking.

3. Accommodation Difficulties

Accommodation, or focussing, is very important for clear and comfortable vision. If your eyes accommodate too much (Accommodation excess) you run the risk of developing myopia, if they can’t accommodate enough (accommodation insufficiency) you’ll have trouble maintaining clear close-up vision.

Get your eyes examined if you suffer eyestrain so we can determine the cause and offer solutions.
